A global headphone maker needed to ensure successful functioning and validate the firmware of its headphone firmware updates, which are essential to deliver new features and fixes to users. The challenge was to achieve excellent coverage, fast testing and replace manual testing with full automation, so that successful firmware updates could be pushed to the deployment server with confidence.

Results

With Nextgen ATAMConnect automation the OEM halved their testing time for each firmware build and doubled the number of reference devices tested, while dramatically increasing the depth of validation across calls, music streaming, audio quality and connectivity.

Nextgen ATAMConnect was able to automatically check the build server for any potential firmware updates. If any were ready for testing, it automatically executed the testing programme across a range of reference mobile devices. When the firmware update was found to be successful, Nextgen ATAMConnect automatically uploaded it to the deployment server ready for over-the-air distribution to the users through the companion app.

With rock-solid firmware updates, the OEM gained market share as confidence grew among end users that its products were reliable, long-lasting and high-performing – even as new devices continued to emerge on the smartphone market.
